  1.                              Directions for Using the Macintosh IIcx Slide Show

  4. The Macintosh® IIcx Slide Show gives you a way to demonstrate the powerful features of this new member of the Macintosh family.  It incorporates high-quality animation, graphics, and sound into a series of scenes illustrating different applications of the Macintosh IIcx.  The slide show runs for about two-and-a-half minutes and will loop continuously.

  6. System requirements:

  8. •  Macintosh IIcx
  9. •  At least 4 MB of RAM  (If you have numerous fonts, desk accessories, and other resources on
  10.       your system, or if you have a big RAM cache, you may not have enough memory to run the slide  
  11.     show.)
  12. •  A 40 MB hard disk with about 11,500K free.  (For best results, use a 40 Mb internal hard disk.)
  13. •  AppleColor High-Resolution RGB Monitor
  14. •  Macintosh II Video Card and Macintosh II Video Card Expansion Kit.
  15. •  For the best sounds, connect external speakers to the Macintosh IIcx.

  17. The slide show won't run under MultiFinder. If your system is set to start up with MultiFinder, you can override this setting by turning off the computer and holding down the Command key as you turn it on again.  Keep the Command key pressed until the desktop appears.

  19. Although this slide show is being distributed on a CD-ROM, it was built to run from the hard disk directly. The directions below describe how to first copy the slide show to your hard disk and then run it.

  22. To start the slide show:

  24. 1.  Copy the folder called "Macintosh IIcx Slide Show" from the CD-ROM disk (the folder 
  25.      is called "HD Slide Show") to the internal hard disk of your Macintosh II.
  26. 2.  Choose Control Panel from the Apple menu and make sure your monitor is set to 256 colors.  
  27. 3.  Open the folder called "Macintosh IIcx Slide Show."
  28. 4.  Double-click the icon called "The Macintosh IIcx at Work."

  30. To quit the slide show:

  32. Press Command-period at any point in the slide show to quit and return to 
  33. the desktop.

  35. To adjust the sound:  
  36.  
  37. 1.  Choose Control Panel from the Apple menu.
  38. 2.  Move the Speaker Volume indicator to the sound level you want.  (If you move the indicator to 
  39.      zero, and disconnect any external speakers,, the sound will be almost inaudible.)
  40. 3.  Close the Control Panel.
